How we build wood fences

Cedar only, and no concrete around the posts

We use top-grade cedar on every wood fence. It gives you a warm, natural look, and you can stain or paint it to match your house.

Here is something many people don't expect: we usually set wood posts without concrete. Concrete can make wood posts rot faster. Some ground conditions still call for it, and if yours does, we'll tell you at the estimate.

Wood does need a little care. Re-stain or seal it every few years, and keep plants trimmed back from the boards, and it will look good for a long time.

Google reviews

What customers say

Real Google reviews from people we've built fences for.

“Carmen came and looked at the project, I knew exactly what I wanted, one week later Kirk was there to remove my old fence and put in my new beautiful fence (in the rain). I couldn't be happier. I would recommend them to anyone I know that needed a new fence.”

Tracy S. · Chelsea, MA

“The experience was superb from start to finish. These are wonderful people who did a fantastic job. We needed a fence on very short notice for a service dog for our son. They installed a beautiful fence, left the garden in great shape, and left our property clean and tidy. This is a business you should support.”

FAQ

Wood fence questions

What kind of wood do you use?

Top-grade cedar only.

Do you set wood fence posts in concrete?

Usually not. Concrete can make wood posts rot faster, so we usually set wood posts without it. Some ground conditions still call for concrete, and we'll tell you if yours does.

How do I take care of a wood fence?

Re-stain or seal it every few years, and keep plants trimmed back from the boards.

Can I stain or paint a cedar fence?

Yes. Cedar can be stained or painted to match your house.

Do you need a deposit?

Every job gets a written contract. The deposit is usually 30 to 50% depending on the job, and 50% for special-order fences.

How soon can you start?

Usually within one to two weeks. In the middle of the busy season it can be three to four weeks, so it pays to get on our spring list early.
